Cependant, en parall\u00e8le, une autre entit\u00e9 \u00e0 vu le jour dans les ann\u00e9es 60. Elle finira par se dissocier, et se cache derri\u00e8re bien des projets. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>C&rsquo;est avec la republication d&rsquo;un article de Boitier Rouge, devenu CarJager, sur la <a href=\"https:\/\/www.carjager.com\/article\/ford-mclaren-m81-mustang-un-drole-de-poney\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Mustang M81<\/a>, que cet article a commenc\u00e9. Je sentais que Paul avait mis le doigt sur quelque chose, sans aller plus avant. Cela s&rsquo;est confirm\u00e9 lorsqu&rsquo;il a parl\u00e9 de la <a href=\"https:\/\/www.carjager.com\/article\/asc-mclaren-mercury-capri-tuning-a-lamericaine\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Capri ASC-McLaren<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Pourquoi diable l&rsquo;entreprise de Woking ne parle-t-elle pas de cet h\u00e9ritage ? Pourquoi presque toujours des v\u00e9hicules venant des Etats-Unis ? Il y avait anguille sous roche, et les recherches s&rsquo;annon\u00e7aient complexes. Le sujet \u00e9tait tellement vaste qu&rsquo;il m&rsquo;a permis de d\u00e9couvrir une McLaren F1 \u00e0 l&rsquo;histoire peu commune (\u00e0 d\u00e9couvrir <a href=\"https:\/\/newsdanciennes.com\/2020\/02\/21\/mclaren-f1-moteur-mercedes-benz\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">chez les copains de News d&rsquo;Anciennes<\/a>). Mais je m&rsquo;\u00e9gare, revenons sur l&rsquo;histoire qui nous int\u00e9resse.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Bruce McLaren, un kiwi qui n&rsquo;en veut<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>M\u00eame s&rsquo;il n&rsquo;est plus vraiment besoin de le pr\u00e9senter, et que surtout certains confr\u00e8res seront bien plus pointus sur le sujet que moi, revenons un peu sur l&rsquo;histoire de Bruce McLaren.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Le pilote n\u00e9o-z\u00e9landais se fait remarquer lors de son Grand Prix national en 1958. Profitant d&rsquo;une fili\u00e8re envoyant les pilotes de l&rsquo;\u00eele vers l&rsquo;Angleterre, il est engag\u00e9 par Cooper en F2. L&rsquo;ann\u00e9e suivante, il rentre en F1, et devient le plus jeune vainqueur de la cat\u00e9gorie en remportant le Grand Prix des Etats-Unis. Le n\u00e9o-z\u00e9landais s&rsquo;offre le luxe d&rsquo;\u00eatre hautement comp\u00e9titif en CanAm, en parall\u00e8le de la F1. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Malheureusement, c&rsquo;est cette m\u00eame discipline qui m\u00e8nera \u00e0 son d\u00e9c\u00e8s. Lors d&rsquo;essais priv\u00e9s sur le circuit de Goodwood, il sort violemment de la piste avec sa M8D, suite \u00e0 l&rsquo;arrachement du capot arri\u00e8re \u00e0 haute vitesse.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">McLaren Engines, l&rsquo;am\u00e9ricaine<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>C&rsquo;est justement pour optimiser les co\u00fbts de l&rsquo;engagement en CanAm que Bruce McLaren cr\u00e9e une nouvelle entit\u00e9 \u00e0 Livonia, dans la banlieue de D\u00e9troit, en 1969. En effet, avoir une usine \u00ab\u00a0locale\u00a0\u00bb permet de faire baisser les d\u00e9penses logistiques. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>De plus, la nouvelle entit\u00e9 se trouve \u00e0 deux pas des Big Three, permettant de d\u00e9velopper beaucoup plus facilement les moteurs de CanAm ou d&rsquo;IndyCar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-jetpack-tiled-gallery aligncenter is-style-rectangular\"><div McLaren Engines contribuera \u00e0 trois des cinq victoires en championnat de la \u00ab\u00a0maison-m\u00e8re\u00a0\u00bb en CanAm, et surtout, elle sera l&rsquo;artisan des victoire des M16 lors des 500 miles d&rsquo;Indianapolis 1972, 1974 et 1976.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Scission et planning bien rempli<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>A la fin des ann\u00e9es 1970, Colnbrook n&rsquo;est pas au mieux de sa forme. Apr\u00e8s une saison 1976 qui apporte le titre pilote \u00e0 James Hunt, les r\u00e9sultats s&rsquo;effondrent. Les finances aussi, et l&rsquo;\u00e9curie se voit oblig\u00e9e de fusionner avec Project 4, une \u00e9curie de F2 dirig\u00e9e par Ron Dennis.<br><br>C&rsquo;est dans ce contexte un peu houleux que la d\u00e9cision est prise de se s\u00e9parer des actifs aux Etats-Unis, malgr\u00e9 diff\u00e9rents contrats de d\u00e9veloppement avec plusieurs constructeurs. En 1982, McLaren Engines prend son ind\u00e9pendance, devenant un acteur majeur en IMSA, notamment. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>La l\u00e9gende veut que la s\u00e9paration ait \u00e9t\u00e9 act\u00e9e moyennant une condition. Les anglais ne fabriquent pas de moteurs, les am\u00e9ricains ne font pas de voitures.
